Regulated Activities

As a healthcare provider, if you provide what are known as ‘regulated activities’, you will require to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

For the purpose of CQC registration, there are 15 regulated activities which include the following:

  1. Personal care.
  2. Accommodation with nursing or personal care.
  3. Accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse.
  4. Accommodation and nursing or personal care in the further education sector.
  5. Treatment of disease, disorder or injury.
  6. Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
  7. Surgical procedures.
  8. Diagnostic and screening procedures.
  9. Management or supply of blood and blood-derived products.
  10. Transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely.
  11. Maternity and midwifery services.
  12. Termination of pregnancy clinics.
  13. Services in slimming clinics.
  14. Nursing care.
  15. Family planning services.
